Listed below are some of our favourite websites, tools and resources that have helped us over the years – not only to create this website but also to maximise the revenue potential of hotels in general. These do include some affiliate links.
Siteground has been excellent. Not cheap, but for the service and support they provide, fantastic value. We used to be with another host until about two years ago and there were always issues. While this was understandable in a shared hosting environment, the support and quality of assistance received to deal with issues when they cropped up were beginning to impact more and more.
After a lot of research, we decided on Siteground especially as they have a good reputation for support and service. We were concerned about the change and as with any change of this type, we had some too. However, we were impressed with the difference in speed, knowledge levels and quality of support that we received from Siteground when it came to troubleshooting and setting things right.
The cynic in me said maybe this was a one-off, but on a bunch of other occasions, they have proven to be very good with their core offering as well as with their support. Highly recommended!

E-mail marketing & automation
We stumbled upon Active Campaign after experimenting with different options – and it was quickly clear that they had everything we needed to ensure we could keep in touch with our subscribers. Equally importantly, they provide great support and high-quality content to support the entire process of email marketing. Great ideas and excellent innovation. Very happy to recommend to anyone starting off their journey with e-mail marketing.

High-quality stock photos which are royalty-free and therefore free to download and use are a great asset for anyone publishing content online. Pixabay revolutionised the scene and now there are more websites that offer some additional exciting options.
Unsplash offers unique collections and themes of excellent photographs which are free to download and use. Crediting the photographer is requested just as with any open-source image collection.
Magdeleine offers handpicked free photos grouped into themes.
Pexels is evolving to become another good source for royalty-free images.
Business & Domain Names
Companies in the travel technology realm are always looking for new names for companies and products. And we have found Namelix to be a good way to brainstorm names and ideas. While the system is not perfect, it throws up enough ideas and variations to make it fun and worthwhile.
We are big fans of Canva along with possibly millions of others. They revolutionised the world of design and made it accessible to everyone. With a great range of designs whether it is social media posts or e-mail marketing, Canva allows you to design elegant visuals quickly using templates. The free version offers so much choice that you may never need to consider the paid version. Tremendous product and great value!
Industry News – at a glance
It is difficult to keep up with the latest trends and happenings whether it is at your destination or in a specific travel niche.
RSS readers help collate multiple sources of information as feeds in one place and you choose what you want to have in your feeds. And it avoids you having to subscribe for endless newsletters or trawling through countless websites to gather what you need to know. Feedly has been our favourite for many years now. The free version does a great job, but there is a paid version with bells and whistles if you need it. The mobile app is excellent too.
